Giving Thanks–Jenny Style!!

Giving Thanks–Jenny Style

So today is Thanksgiving or as I like to call it–TURKEY DAY! In celebration of the holiday I thought I’d list a few things that I am thankful for. Here goes nothing!

Gobble Gobble!!!

#1. I’m thankful for Vanderbilt basketball, cause it takes my mind off of Vanderbilt football.

#2. I’m thankful for chocolate, because some days you just need a piece or two (or three or four)!

#3. I’m thankful for the movie “Dirty Dancing”, cause no matter what kind of mood I’m in when that movie is on TV the world is PERFECT!

#4. I’m thankful for Marcus’ spin class at the Green Hills YMCA. I don’t get to take his class as often as I’d like but man when I do go it kicks my butt.

#5. I’m thankful for Cupcake Collection, and that should take no explanation.

#6. I’m thankful for good music on my Ipod, cause I wouldn’t be able to run without my JAMZZZZZ.

#7. I’m thankful for Arrington Vineyards, and again that should take no explanation.

#8. I’m thankful for all the friends and family members hwo laugh at my jokes even if they are not that funny!

#9. I’m thankful for the BRAVO network cause it shows some of my favorite shows.

#10. I’m thankful for HDTV, because even the blades of fake grass on football fields look real.

But no in all honesty I’m thankful for my wonderful family, my FABULOUS husband and the best friends a girl can ask for. I’m very blessed to have such a wonderful life!

Would love to hear from ya–XOXO

Rivalry or just another reason to tailgate?

For those of you who love college football as much as I do, you know that Saturday’s in the fall are very important. It’s all about the fans, the atmosphere, the food and fun.  And it’s fair to say that as a Vandy fan it’s not so much about the game of football but rather the tailgate! I have been going to college football games with my dad since I was little, so it’s a family affair, and we always have some yummy food!

One of the biggest games each year for Vandy is towards the end of each season when they take on in-state rivals, the University of Tennessee Volunteers. Now for those of you that don’t live in TN or don’t run across a bunch of UT fans, let’s just say about 90% of them are a different breed of human (and I have to say 90% because I have friends who are UT grads or fans and they are normal). They are VERY into their football and all that it entails, and are not afraid to show it! And while it may seem like a lopsided rivalry, being that UT usually wins (except that one time-LOL), it’s also kind of fun to talk trash leading up to the game, especially when their season hasn’t turned out to be as stellar as it usually is.

One of my absolute favorite VANDY/UT game memories is when I was 14 and it was a beautiful day for football. The leaves were falling and FALL was in the air full force. As a beat-up touring bus pulled up not too far from where we were tailgating, out stumbled about 14 old, drunk men and their wives (who all thought orange was an attractive color to wear–umm I think not!). Well immediately it was obvious that the drinking had started probably right when they left Knoxville that morning, and they apparently thought making cat calls at a 14 year-old girl was a GENIUS idea. Well they were wrong! Now just a quick note–my dad is not a fighter at all. As a matter of fact John Lennon describes his attitude perfectly when he would say “Peace not War, Love not Hate.” But this day was different and in about 30 seconds-I saw a beer get shaken up by my dad, and sprayed all over the DRUNKARDS. And it was AWESOME!!!!!!! I’ll never forget their faces as they were getting sprayed–it was almost like their brain couldn’t quite grasp what was happening and they all kind of just looked at each other (and dropped the F-Bomb a couple times too). But it was seriously one of the most entertaining things I have ever seen!

So today it is off to another Fall football game between Vandy and UT–not sure how this will turn out (but if Vandy scores 14 points everyone gets a free taco from TACO BELL), but one can hope it  doesn’t involve a shaken beer can and drunk rednecks.

Ta Ta for now!!

Bag Lady!

Ok seriously I don’t know how mom’s do it with all the extra things they need for their child and the various bags they carry. Lately I have been feeling like The Crazy Bag Lady when I go to work! On the days I have Boot Camp in the morning or I’m

Please don't let this be me in 30 years!

planning to workout, I can easily carry in 3-4 bags. One for my workout clothes, one for my lunch, a purse, and possibly an extra bag with work stuff in it. That’s just ridiculous! These bags are not small by any means…My gym bag is filled to the brim and can easily weigh 11-12lbs, and my purse usually tips the scales at 8lbs. I’m gonna have to learn how to consolidate because even my shih-tzu is taking a back seat to my bags! Ta Ta for now and if you see me roaming the streets like a lost soul years from now remember I warned you! XOXO-J

The Cougar

So as some of you may know I’m a BIG John Cougar Mellencamp fan. Normally I refer to him as my old-man crush! Don’t

Old Skool John!

worry Adam has an old-girl crush who happens to not be as old–Jessica Simpson (she ain’t got nothin’ on me)! So anyways, much to my excitement I was able to go to my second Cougar concert last week at the historic Ryman Auditorium. It ROCKED my socks off! He played some old stuff and new stuff–and it was reminiscent of the first time I saw him at Starwood Ampitheatre when I was 14, front row-center!

But what I did not remember was the average age of women flocking and screaming like school girls! Let’s just say the people watching was HILARIOUS! At one point the Cougar took off his black jacket, and women went nuts. I have never heard or seen anything like it (actually I take that back–NSync concert 10 years ago was similar)….And mind you he was wearing a full

New Skool---lots of wrinkles!!!

coverage shirt so it wasn’t like he was showing any of the goods (thank God)! Another thing I noticed is how old he looks–he sure didn’t look that old at Starwood and I was up close and personal. Let’s just say the Drugs, Beer & Rock n’ Roll has aged him greatly! I googled his age while we were there and he’s only 59, but looks about 70….craziness!

Now I know I said he was my old-man crush and trust me he still is, but it has nothing to do with the way he looks, rather it has to do with the way he ROCKS it on stage and has that “bad boy” image. At one point he was even bumpin and grindin with a mid-40s women who happened to be wearing a low cut white tank and a MELLENCAMP belt. Well once she made it on stage let’s just say they she was about as close to John’s face as physically possible and was having a good time. At this point the “People Watchin” was in full effect and I had material that would last me all week! LOL

So what old-man or old-woman crushes do you have? Please share and let me hear from ya! XOXO

So I know it’s been a while since the last post and trust me I have a good excuse this time…Actually no I don’t but it kept you wanting to read didn’t it? Anyways the month of October has been super BUSY (with a capital B). If it’s not work, it’s friends, family, football games,  1/2 marathons and who can forget the holiday to end all holidays–HALLOWEEN! So things have been a little hectic! And I know in a previous post I said I was going to dress as Snooki and Adam was going to be The Situation’s evil twin, Intimidation. Well the desire to do that wore off real quick and I became a pumpkin, and let me just say a mighty cute pumpkin at that. Actually what’s funny is that I’m pretty sure the first 3-4 years of my life I was a pumpkin (hey the outfit still fit) so obviously things don’t change too much over time. My husband also decided to have an argument with his mountain bike, and let’s just say the mountain bike won, so the last week has been interesting for me and painful for him!

Anyways I’m hoping the holidays start to go a little slower so I can enjoy them and have fun celebrating! I’m also hoping Vandy can squeeze out a win or two by the end of the season as well, but at least basketball season is around the corner and I’ll have something to look forward to. Let’s just say this year’s season ticket design is the HOTNESS! Anyways I hope to write more in November and have some funny stories to tell.

Speaking of funny/crazy stories-did you hear the one about the 13 lb baby that was born in Texas? Not only was the kid 13 lbs it was three weeks early. Could you imagine the size if the mother had taken it to term? I mean I know everything

Umm yea'-thanks but no thanks 🙂

is bigger in Texas but DAMNNNN! My shih-tzu, Rocco, only weighs 14 lbs (12 on a good day). This is why childbirth terrifies me! I’m not good with needles, I pass out for no apparent reason, and having to squeeze out a possible 8-10 lb watermelon is not exactly what I picture a good day being. Anyways hope everyone had a wonderful October and are ready for an even better November and December. Ta-Ta for now and fill me in on your happenings!

p.s. John Mellencamp concert is in 4 days, and Ben Folds is the end of November–whoop whoop! I can’t think of two better shows to see!!!!
