To Resolute or Not Resolute?

This is the question for so many come January 1st of every year, and this year will be no different! I’ve resolved to do a lot of things different over the years, like lose weight, eat better, curse less (yea’ right), be nicer, be more considerate, have more patience, etc, etc, etc. Some times I keep things going for a few weeks, and if I’m really good it goes for a few months. Either way, I usually get frustrated with myself for about 5 minutes when my resolution falls by the wayside, and then I’m over it.

So what is it about one year being any different from other years that makes some think “This year things are gonna be different”? I mean really-why do you need a date-like Jan 1st– to start doing something different. It’s just a date!

And don’t even get me started about the NYRPS (New Year’s resolution people) at the gym! They drive me insane, because from about the first week in January until mid-March it’s a mad-house to get on any cardio equipment. Of course this is a double-edged sword for me, being that I am employed by the YMCA, and that membership helps to pay my salary, but geez-o’-pete’s folks, must you take up the one treadmill I use for 45 minutes?

So what will your resolution be this year? I haven’t decided if I will have one and if I did what it would be so if anyone has suggestions I’m willing to listen!

Hope you all have a very MERRY CHRISTMAS and a NEW YEAR full of realistic resolutions! Would love to hear from ya!

Maybe I'll eat more veggies in 2011?!?!? Nahhhh 🙂

The World’s Best Christmas Movie EVER???

Plenty of you may not agree, but by far my favorite Christmas movie of ALL TIME is Bing Crosby’s “White Christmas”. It’s

Bing and Rosemary--two of my FAVES!

definitely the VERY best when it comes to getting me in the spirit of the holidays! And why wouldn’t it be? You’ve got music, comedy, great acting, dancing, a love story, a tearjerker moment with The General, and so MUCH more!!!!

Now if you asked my husband what his favorite Christmas movie is he’d tell you “Home Alone”, “Home Alone 2”, and “Home Alone 3”. Yea I don’t get it either! Don’t get me wrong, I love the “Home Alone” movie series, but it doesn’t get me in the holiday spirit per se.

I’m sure there are also a few of you who love watching “A Christmas Story”, which is also another CLASSIC! My favorite scene is when the kid puts his tongue on the frozen light pole. HILARIOUS! Or when Ralphie comes down with his super cute pink bunny pajamas on! I can watch this movie probably over and over again and still laugh like the jokes are ones I haven’t heard.

One of the newer movies that I also enjoy is “Family Stone” with Diane Keaton and the guy from Coach! If you haven’t seen it you need to, and ladies get ready cause it’s one of those that you will cry your eyes out while watching, but it’s also really funny too!

So what is it about Christmas movies that makes everyone so fanatical? I mean really- I’ve seen tons of knick-knacks for sales based on  “A Christmas Story” (i.e. snowglobes, leg lamps, etc). And I’m guilty of it too, being that I am the proud owner of the Anniversary Edition of “White Christmas” on DVD, which cost a pretty penny. Luckily mom and dad bought that one for me!!!

What are you favorite movies and what gets you excited for the Christmas season? Is it the annual Snoopy special on ABC? Would love to hear from ya! Ta Ta for now—XOXO

Football Fans Who Act a Fool!

Last Thursday night was the Titans/Colts game, and aside from it being 20-something degrees outside, we were lucky enough to get free tickets on the 50-yard line, Club level, from my work. Well let’s just say people on Club level are some crazy, drunk fools for the most part!!! I cannot tell you how many people were completely plastered and saying some of the craziest things. One white guy kept yelling to three black guys in front of him the words “Gin & Juice” over and over again. What the hell does that mean? It was the weirdest thing—like completely awkward! Then there were two other guys (both Titans fans) yelling at each other about who actually paid for what ticket and that they were allowed to have whatever opinion they wanted. It was almost hilarious to watch cause either guy was making any sense whatsoever.

You know it was freezin' in Wisconsin when this picture was taken! LOL

But while all this is going on I’m asking myself, what is it about football games and people acting a fool? Is it the adrenaline, the nature of the game, the excess of alcohol, the freedom to get out of your house? I don’t know that there is a correct answer to this, but based on my knowledge of football games and my attendance to plenty of them, I do know that there are folks who live and breathe football and who-no matter how wrong they are- will not shut up when it comes to yelling there opinion so EVERYONE can hear. And while it can be quite humorous, it’s also annoying, especially when  you are trying to watch THE GAME!

Know any obnoxious fans that fit perfectly in this description or are you the obnoxious fan? Now’s the time to let your voice be heard!

Ta Ta for now!

Christmas: The Untold Story

So my hubby, Adam, and I have been married now for three years and between us we have plenty of family and friends to shop for. Now before I get the third degree that Christmas is not about giving gifts— save it, cause I know that’s not what Christmas is about, but if you know me you know how much I enjoy buying presents for people. Whether it be a birthday, baby shower, graduation, of just cause I’m BIG on sentimental gifts that I put a lot of thought and preparation into. So I never quite understood when my mom would say things like “ I don’t know what to get your dad” or “ I feel like I get that for her every year”. Now I can officially say I know what she feels like!

Buying gifts is such a representation of what you think about a person and how well you know them! For instance if you got me a size zero skirt, you would know that it’s not gonna fit cause I am not a size zero (that would be my sister Kate). Or if you bought me anything the color orange then you would definitely not know that I detest the color orange and you also wouldn’t know why (ugly UT orange). All this being said I find it harder and harder to get those I love the perfect gift. So I have resorted to a creative, somewhat renaissance manner in coming up with gift ideas—ShopAir Magazine. Yup- you heard that right- the magazine you can shop from when you are flying! Iy;s a GENIUS publication!

Now I don’t purchase anything from the magazine cause it’s way overpriced, but man does it have some great ideas! For instance, they have marshmallow guns, Star Wars memorabilia, dog steps that go right to your bed, kitty water regulators, fake decorative

These are the steps I would get for Rocco!

rocks for your yard, etc. Really it gets my creative juices flowing!

What “untold” Christmas stories have you discovered over the years? Where do you go to get your gift ideas? Hope to hear from you folks!
